Some thoughts on this cartoon:
1. It isn’t funny. I love offensive things if they’re funny, but this just isn’t funny. It’s not a viable parody of the chimpanzee mauling. I work in the humor business. If there was humor here, I’d see it.
2. It is racist. There is an undeniable history of the racist connection between blacks and monkeys. Obama is the personification of the stimulus bill, so representing Obama as a monkey is racist.
3. Al Sharpton doesn’t always get it right, but sometimes he does, and this is one of those times.
