Pearl Jam 2008
Tomorrow I embark on my 10-date Pearl Jam tour and I couldn’t be more excited. To date, I have seen them 28 times. I took a walk down memory lane on the Pearl Jam website and have included my personal concert chronology below.
As I discussed several months ago, I get excellent seats through the Pearl Jam fanclub. Seating is assigned by seniority, and having been in the club since 1994 (age 12), I generally do quite well, almost always within the first 20 rows. The Pearl Jam catalog is large enough every show is significantly different. During my Canada run in 2005, I calculuated that I heard over 60 different songs during 3 shows.
I admit, it’s a little bit obsessive. Maybe even more than a little bit. But I pride myself in the passion with which I go about doing things, be it my job, personal relationships, or even band fandom. My Psychiatrist Uncle, Peter Mohrer, told me recently that attachment to music often stems from childhood connection. My introduction and early love of Pearl Jam come with great and important memories.
The 2nd MSG show in 2003 stands out as particularly significant in my life, as it was the last show I saw with Elie. His Pearl Jam obsession matched mine, and along with our big plans for our business were plans to enjoy our independence and professional freedom via extended Pearl Jam followings.
I’m grateful that while I’m on hiatus from true entrepreneurship I’m still afforded the opprotunity to take some time off and pursue my passion for Pearl Jam.
