Big Bonuses
The issue that deserves public scrutiny is not how large the bonuses are at certain financial firms, but rather how the firms make that money to begin with.
If Goldman Sachs makes $12bn in 2009, the question isn’t “Why do the employees get $3bn in compensation?” It should be “What kind of shady shit is Goldman Sachs doing to make $12bn to begin with.”
