Lola the Dog
I never really liked dogs. Because of my father’s allergies, having a dog was out of the question. But it went beyond that… dogs just seemed like a huge burden with little upside. They pee and poop in inappropriate places, they leave hair behind on everything they touch, and from a humanitarian perspective I found spade/neutering to be disgusting and bizarre. And if you get past all that, as they get older they get sick or crazy and require execution. I just didn’t get it.
Then I met Cinnamon Cramer and everything changed. She was a beautiful doggy that warmed to me after a couple of visits to Los Angeles. She’s the first dog I ever loved and opened me up to the idea of one day having a dog of my own. I was truly saddened when she got sick last summer and passed away, both because of my own connection to her and in seeing the emotional effect it had on the Cramer family.
This past week in Los Angeles I had the privilege of joining the Cramers on their search for a new dog.

It took about 10 minutes with the nice people at Perfect Pet Rescue to meet the new Cramer Dog, whom we named Lola Cramer. She’s a nice doggy. Lola was reserved for the first couple of days but by the time we left Los Angeles she was a regular member of the family, responding to her new name, using the doggy-door to the backyard, and loving her humans. I hope she remembers me and Petra on our next visit!
