Lighten Up, Micah
Micah came downstairs this morning and I told him Nelly, our dog, was hit by a pick-up truck. I had run out to help her, but it was too late, she was already horribly mangled and dead. I asked him if he wouldn’t mind helping me bury her in the backyard, that I had already started digging a hole near his old swing set. I gave him a little time to digest this before shouting “April Fools!” I know, pretty funny, but he was still upset when I picked him up from school this afternoon.
What’s up with that? For April Fools’ Day my mother used to switch around the sugar and the salt. I would end up ruining a perfectly good bowl of cereal. Did I flip out? Well, maybe a little, but I certainly didn’t let it ruin my entire day.
