Burger Wars
In-n-Out or Shake Shack?
I have had this discussion with a lot of people and most NYers seem to think that Shake Shack is the better burger. While Shack Shack does make a good burger, I theorize that it is held in such high regard because of the apparent demand for it. People justify waiting 30-60 minutes for an overpriced burger by believing it is the best ever.
I’ve lost 20 pounds over the past few months and that’s partially been a result of careful eating, but I make an important exception when I get off planes at LAX or BUR and my in-laws zip Petra and me over to one of the many local In-n-Out joints near their house in Sherman Oaks. I had two last night and I am now more sure than ever that In-n-Out is the world’s best burger, and more specifically, better than Shake Shack.
I’m a NYer for life, born and raised, and I probably love this city more than you do. But I cannot deny that this is one area that the west coast has us beat. I look forward to the day when In-n-Out restaurants start popping up on the East Coast. The world’s best burger in the world’s best city, for less than the cost of a subway ride. What a deal!
