TSA busting mommy blogger’s social media lies
TSA responds to a post from a mommy blogger (My Bottle’s Up) who claims that she was separated from her child during the security process at ATL. TSA even released a video clip from security to rebuke the untruths.
Not easy to beat up on those that have Big Brother-like capabilities. Wonder if BlogHer will support the blogger in the network?
(heads up from @ComcastCares)
Update: now it seems like My Bottle’s Up has removed commenting ability from the blog. Doing that just makes the post look worse.
Fascinating. This is going to be really interesting as it starts happening more. It introduces the glass house problem. The government has access to all sorts of resources like security tapes that other folks don’t. So .gov can go after small guys without fear of being exposed like this, while little guys can’t go after .gov without fear of this kind of response.
David Brin called it.
I think the security tapes were consulted to find the truth, not just in search of a defense. Had these events happened the way the crazy blogger claimed (spoiler: they didn’t, she’s just an insane liar) I believe the TSA would have taken the appropriate action. Don’t confuse the ineffectiveness of TSA security checkpoints with the intent of it’s management.
The Internet can amplify the voice of one person such that a national government must respond. That is amazing. Assuming that .gov is going after little guys is silly. Had those TSA agents done what crazy blogger lady had purported, they would not have jobs anymore.
